DESCRIPTION:
In Hinduism, Ekadashi is an important observance, with two occurring annually. The focus is the worship of Lord Vishnu. Devotees show reverence by partial fasting. They abstain from grains, beans, cereals, certain vegetables like onions, and specific spices.
Devshayani Ekadeshi (Shayani Ekadashi / Maha-ekadashi / Prathama-ekadashi / Padma Ekadashi) is the Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha within the Hindu month of Ashadha. Ashadha corresponds to June – July of the Gregorian calendar.
